Welcome and thank you for joining us in Basic Pet Care

Nail Trims, Bathing and Grooming are important in the general care of any companion animal.
  • Long, non-clipped nails can cause other issues beyond just broken nails
  • Clean and well-groomed animals tend to be happier and healthier.
    • Clean pets are less likely to contract dermatitis from urine or fecal particles on the skin (which can develop into more severe issues)
  • Grooming and medical bathing are common treatments for many dermatological problems (skin issues)
Exercise is not covered in this course, however it is a very important aspect to Basic Care as well.

Moderate exercise is beneficial to the physical and mental health of your pet.  As with all things in life, there must be a happy balance.
Too much or too little exercise can cause depression, behavior issues or health issues (including but not limited to respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal problems).  Playtime can be considered the simplest form of physical therapy helping reduce peripheral edema and improving muscle tone.
Please find below a FREE printable booklet of a few helpful tips of basics every pet owner should know and important numbers.
